Frequently asked questions

What issues do you specialize in?

I support individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, stress, life transitions, and burnout—especially those impacted by systems of oppression, displacement, gender-based challenges, and/or those in helping professions. I also work with expats, humanitarians, and people longing for more connection to their bodies, stories, and nature.

What approaches do you use in therapy?

My practice is trauma-informed, relational, and rooted in compassion. I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS-informed), somatic therapy (i.e., mind-body connection), CBT, DBT skills, narrative therapy, and nature-based practices. However, we’ll work together to create a space that feels safe and meaningful for you.

Do you offer virtual therapy?

Yes! I offer secure online therapy sessions for clients in Colorado and Kenya. If you live outside of these areas, please reach out to see if we might still be a fit for coaching or other support options.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

At the moment, I only offer in-person sessions for clients in Nairobi, Kenya.

What’s it like to be in session with you?

Therapy with me is warm, collaborative, and grounded in deep respect for your pace and lived experience. I offer a calm, steady presence and stay gently engaged—whether we’re exploring emotions, checking in with your body, reflecting on a life story, or sitting quietly together. You won’t be rushed or pushed; we’ll co-create a space where all parts of you are welcome, and where healing can unfold with safety, curiosity, and care. If we’re meeting in person, we might walk in the forest, share tea indoors or out, or meet in your own space—whatever helps you feel most at ease.

Are you LGBTQIA+ affirming?

Absolutely. I affirm and celebrate all gender identities, sexual orientations, and expressions. My practice is inclusive and grounded in anti-oppression and liberation frameworks.

What is your fee? Do you accept sliding scale?

My standard session fee is $130 for 50-60 minutes. I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots based on financial need—please reach out if cost is a barrier. I believe therapy should be as accessible as possible.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, for those residing in Colorado, I can accept insurance through my clinical supervisor, Joni Handran, LCSW, PhD, LAC. We accept the following insurances: Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, BlueCross and BlueShield, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna and Evernorth, Colorado Access, Health First Colorado, Medicaid, Medicare, United Healthcare UHC/UBH.

How do I get started?

You can reach out through my contact form or email me directly at hello@lindsaybingaman.com. We’ll start with a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit. No pressure, no commitment—just a chance to connect.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is a space to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you in, what you’re hoping for, and how we can co-create a safe, supportive space. You're always in control of the pace and depth of our work.

What if I don’t know what I need yet?

That’s okay. You don’t need to have the “right words” or a clear goal to start. Therapy is a space to explore, unravel, reconnect, and simply be—together.
